Welcome!

So often, people with BPD are seen as "dramatic," "too much," or even "oversensitive," but generally, it is just people trying to get their needs met using unhelpful skills. So this site is designed to fight the stigma and provide info on DBT skills and other musings by someone with both personal and clinical knowledge of BPD. So, whether you are someone dealing with BPD issues or know someone who is, welcome!

My Story

When I was younger, emotions felt really overwhelming. I did my best as a kid to manage the feelings. As I got older, the feelings stayed overwhelming but so did my skill level in handling things. I managed to graduate undergrad and start my first career of being a French teacher. But pretty quickly realized that the career I had worked so hard to get into, well, it wasn't for me. And like that, my life goal, my identity went poof. I spent some time trying to find myself and I realized all the facets of myself. I was more than a teacher/daughter/wife/whatever. I was all of them and more. I realized that I am a multitude of things. And with that (and some therapy of my own) I realized I had options. I looked at my skills and experiences and passions. I got myself through grad school and earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and my MFT Associates license in Indiana. And now I am here to tell you that you are NOT hopeless, worthless, or "being dramatic." Your feelings may be overwhelming but maybe that is just cause your tools for coping are outdated.

I hope this website helps you learn about BPD and DBT interventions. You are more than your feelings. You are more than your job. You. Are. More. So let's figure out what that more is, shall we?
